Research & Projects
My current research and development activities sit at the intersection of sport biomechanics, physical education, human movement, athlete monitoring, women’s health, and exercise rehabilitation. A recurring theme is practical, assessment-informed approaches that support individual progression and decision-making in real-world settings.
MOSAIC 12–14
Personalised, Assessment-Informed Physical Education for Early Adolescents
MOSAIC 12–14 is an emerging framework designed to support more personalised physical education for early adolescents through practical assessment, individual progression, and meaningful participation.
The project explores how physical education can respond to differences in movement competence, physical capacity, engagement, and developmental progression.
Current work focuses on conceptual development, implementation pathways, and opportunities for pilot evaluation in educational settings.
Offline-First Physical Education
Supporting Personalised PE in Low-Connectivity and Resource-Constrained Settings
This direction explores how personalised and assessment-informed physical education can remain feasible where continuous internet, advanced technology, or specialist infrastructure may not be available.
The aim is to support continuity of assessment, progression, and teacher decision-making across diverse educational environments.
Wearable & Field-Based Movement Monitoring
Accessible Monitoring of Movement, Load and Functional Response
This work investigates practical ways to monitor movement and physical loading outside highly controlled laboratories.
The aim is to combine wearable, functional, and field-based measures to track individual response and support decisions in sport and rehabilitation.
Interests include movement monitoring, workload, functional performance, neuromuscular response, and tendon-related loading.
Tendon Loading & Functional Monitoring
Individualised Monitoring of Tendon-Related Response
This direction considers external loading, internal response, functional performance, and tendon-related symptoms in athletic populations.
The aim is to understand how practical monitoring may reveal meaningful changes before larger performance or health problems develop.
Interests include Achilles and patellar tendon monitoring, field-based functional measures, and individual response calibration.
Women’s Sport & Exercise Health
Movement, Performance and Health Across Female Populations
This theme examines movement, musculoskeletal health, injury susceptibility, exercise response, and physical performance across female populations and life stages.
Interests include women athletes, menopause-related changes, physical function, and exercise for performance and quality of life.
The emphasis is on integrating biomechanics, functional assessment, and practical exercise monitoring.
Exercise Rehabilitation & Cardiovascular Biomechanics
Biomechanics and Exercise-Based Approaches to Functional Recovery
My rehabilitation research includes exercise-based approaches to cardiovascular and musculoskeletal recovery, with emphasis on measurable functional outcomes.
It builds on earlier cardiac rehabilitation research and extends to movement quality, physical capacity, functional recovery, and accessible monitoring.
Accessible Human Movement Assessment
Translating Biomechanics Beyond the Laboratory
A broader focus of my work is developing and evaluating movement-assessment approaches usable outside specialist biomechanics laboratories.
This includes wearable sensors, markerless movement analysis, functional testing, and other scalable approaches for research, education, sport, and rehabilitation.
Research Collaboration
I welcome interdisciplinary and international work in sport biomechanics, personalised physical education, athlete monitoring, wearable and field-based assessment, women’s sport and health, tendon monitoring, and exercise rehabilitation.
I am especially interested in collaborations connecting rigorous assessment with feasible implementation in schools, sport, rehabilitation, and community health.
